In the red corner, fighting for Mother Russia, we have the Lotus Carlton.
In the Blue corner, fighting for freedom and the Constitution and bald eagles, we have the Dodge Ram 1500 4x4.
Which one of these vehicles is more American?

Although the winning Ford GT40s were American, the original design was British. It has too much British blood to be the most American car.

Not really. I'm not sure what trans the GT40 had. But I'd love to go into it. A lot of people, even on Jalopnik, seem to think the GT is a British designed and engineered car. It's not really true after the Mark I GT40. The Mk II was American, and that's the car that started the winning streak.
The NEW GT had an American body (designed by Camilo Pardo), American engine and a Recardo (British) transaxle.

If you want to go by the country where either is built, neither one of them. Otherwise, the Ram.

I remember watching a show about Carol Shelby and his hand int he GT40 and he said the trans was German, and ya once Shelby got his fingers into it there was no stopping the Chicken farmer from winning anything and everything he could.

Define "American". Mexico is in North America , so you could say that all Rams are made in America.

The Lotus Carlton was a collaboration of GM Europe (Vauxhall, U.K. and Opel, Germany) with Lotus (U.K.), not sure where 'mother Russia' comes in, if you could explain that'd be great. Thanks in advance.

While some Rams are built in Mexico, I'm pretty sure Warren, MI is still in the US of A.

Ah, my mistake then. In my haste to make a response I didn't look hard enough on the internet. :P I just knew that they are produced in Mexico and didn't look to see if they were made anywhere else. With that in mind, how exactly is this even a contest? The Ram is pretty much all American and the Lotus is only American in that it was essentially financed by GM.

Yeah, to be honest, it took me a minute to confirm US assembly myself.
As far as the Lotus, it's not really a Lotus design. It's a Lotus-modified Opel Omega, which was also sold as a Vauxhall Carlton. (Opel and Vauxhall are 100% GM-owned brands, as was Lotus at the time.) The following generation of Omega was sold in the U.S. as the Cadillac Catera. The Catera was replaced by the CTS. The current-gen CTS is available as a wagon. Supercharged V8 RWD manual wagon = American, so Lotus Omega/Lotus Carlton = American. Right?

The United Kingdom is arguably further from the red corner and Mother Russia than the USA.

I don't consider Russia to be an European country.

It may be American because GM is American. As for it representing Russia...ignorant retards, that's all.

It is (eastern Europe) on yhe European continent. But many I guess don't class it as Europe as many think of Europe as Germany and anything west of it (what we'd call central or western Europe and countries like Poland, Estonia, Belarus, Ukraine, etc... As eastern Europe.
I'm just curious how the Lotus Carlton represents Russia as, I may be going out on a limb here to say, the Lotus Carlton never officially went to Russia or even America for that matter.
For Russia I'd think of GAZ, VAZ, etc...I wouldn't even say Skoda (Czech) or FSO (Poland) or Trabant (eastern German) even though some were under the banner of the USSR for sometime.

So true in respect of the Diomedes (Big and Little) which would be a far shorter distance than the U.K. Vauxhall and Germany Opel to Russia.

I'm reading the biography and people need to realize when the British were in charge of the GT40 it was an unreliable embarrassment, the they gave it to shelby in the 65 seasons and it improved winning a few races Sebring and Daytona being two of the biggest, but it had transmission problems from the Ford transmission. It wasn't until the 66 season when Shelby focused more on the GT40 that it truly came into its own.

The Carlton is only American by marriage, seeing as it's a British-modified version of a car primarily engineered in Germany by a company that's merely owned by GM.
Therefore, the enormous Dodge pickup wins by miles. Duh...

I'd say the small desk chair.

Russia is mostly on the Asian continent though. Besides, North America has a communist state as well; Cuba.

Both generations of the Omega were available as a wagon as well (obviously, because Europe). And were RWD. There's an Omega V8 prototype, and if I'm not mistaken they used the Omega as a blueprint for the 90s Holden Commodore. Which was available with a v8, and birthed the Pontiac G8 and Chevrolet SS in later generations.

No way. It's the US we're talking about. Only an xl desk chair could be considered American. The Nissan is an SUV, so very American.

Old geography lessons coming back to me now. Your so right. I keep thinking of the European continent as France to Big Diomede and Asian as the Stans. (Kazakh.. Uzbez.. Tajiki..) And below when what I'm actually thinking of is the entirety of the Eurasian continent minus the Asian countries and recognising them as the Asian continent in itself. Mr Wright (my old geography teacher) would probably of clipped me round the back of the head for that. Cheers fella.
